Totally Trollwood Academy

This is a new program for middle school students!

Morning or afternoon sessions teach young performing arts enthusiasts the basic skills of acting, musical theatre vocal performance and dance/movement. Each session includes a one hour class in each area:acting, musical theatre and dance. Participants are also eligible for beginning level Trollwood Academy elective classes. No auditions required.

Totally Trollwood sessions consist of the following classes:

  • STAGE ONE Find your “inner actor” and gain confidence onstage. This class will include fun and creative acting games and an introduction to acting techniques.

  • TOTALLY BROADWAY Do you want to learn how to sing like a Broadway star? Through this introductory course you will learn the basics of singing, how to act a song, and beginning movement and choreography—you’ll be on your way! Students will have the opportunity to learn solos, duets and work as an ensemble, singing and dancing to Broadway’s best songs!

  • DANCE SHAKE DOWN This course offers exposure to the most popular dance forms. You will experience jazz, ballet, and modern dance in a fun atmosphere.

ADD TROLLWOOD ACADEMY ELECTIVES!

Totally Trollwood Academy students are encouraged to add Trollwood Academy (formerly June Session) electives to heighten their summer arts experience!

If you are a morning Totally Trollwood Academy student, you may choose from a selection of afternoon, beginning level Trollwood Academy classes. If you are an afternoon Totally Trollwood Academy student, you may choose from the morning, beginning level courses. Taught by professionals from around the nation, these classes offer opportunities to explore all areas of the arts. Add a couple classes and spend your day with us training at Trollwood!

Morning Session, 8:30-11:50 am, one-hour sessions each of Dance, Acting & Musical Theatre daily. Optional Afternoon Electives (available at no extra fee)

Period 3 1:00-2:30 pm (choose one) Beginning Jazz Dance, Costuming for the Stage, Improvisation Basics, or Technical Theatre Experience-Anything Goes

Period 4 2:40-4:10 pm (choose one) Beginning Hip-Hop Dance, Vocal Technique Basics (sec. 2), or Technical Theatre Experience-Anything Goes

Afternoon Session, 1:00-4:20 pm Optional Morning Electives (available at no extra fee)

Period 1 9:00-10:30 am (choose one) Beginning Tap Dance, Stage Makeup, Acting Basics, Beginning Glee Choir, or Technical Theatre Experience -Anything Goes

Period 2 10:40 am-12:10 pm (choose one) Introduction to Ballet & Modern Dance, Vocal Technique Basics (sec. 1), or Technical Theatre Experience -Anything Goes

Important Notes

Open to students who have completed grades 6-8.

Dates: June8-July 2, Monday-Friday

Orientation: Tuesday, June8, 1:00-4:00 pm, Trollwood’s South Moorhead Campus. Attendance is REQUIRED!

Classes start: Wednesday, June 9

Time: Morning Session, 8:30-11:50 am and optional afternoon electives from 1:00-4:10 pm. Afternoon Session, 1:00-4:20 pm and optional morning electives from 8:30-11:50 am

Registration Deadline: Wednesday, May 26. NOTE: Registration remains open after this deadline; however, a $25 late fee will be assessed.

Orientation Day: Wednesday, July 8, 9:00 am-12:00 pm, Trollwood’s South Moorhead Campus. Attendance is required!

Bus Transportation: During the month of June, Trollwood will offer bus transportation to Trollwood’s South Moorhead campus from various pickup points in Fargo, West Fargo, and Moorhead and back again—for less money than ever before! Routes will run prior to 8:20 am and again after 4:30 pm, allowing you to participate in a full day of programming at Trollwood. For just $75.00, you may ride the bus both ways, only one way, or switch it up from day to day! Routes will operate from June 8-July 2. Refer to registration form for schedule/locations.

Dance Footwear: Proper footwear must be worn during dance class to ensure maximum safety and the highest quality of performance. If you already own both, please bring jazz shoes and ballet slippers to the dance portin of Totally Trollwood Academy. If not, one or the other will be fine. Sandals, flip flops and some types of tennis shoes are not adquate footwear for dance classes. In the event that financial barriers preclude the purchase of appropriate dance shoes, please contact Trollwod for assistance.
