The Checkhov Technique Workshop included multi-generational participants. The younger students were instrumental in leading the older generations through the theatre exercises used by Mr. Williamson to explore the techniques of the great Russian actor, Michael Checkhov. The “Checkhov Technique” encourages the actor to capture feelings and emotions with large body gestures and then work to convey those feelings by a character without using the same large gestures. The result is an acting portrayal that is full of layers and activity central to the character’s message.
