As the Valley prepares for the coming crest (expected Saturday, 3-20) of the Red River at 38 feet, Trollwood's campus is expected to fair well (NOT "farewell"). Trollwood does not anticipate the need to sandbag as of 3-16!
The berm behind the amphitheatre was landscaped to completion last summer and the site drainage system was also adjusted to eliminate the flooding issues Trollwood experienced in 2009.
The Marcil Commons Building sits at an elevation of 41 feet, so the predicted crest for 2010 at 38 feet should leave it high and dry.
50th Avenue South, leading into our campus, does have low spots that may allow flood waters to innundate the road and cut off access to the site, which will also cause flooding in our parking lot (which has an elevation lower than 38 feet) and maintenance building. Preparations are underway to minimize any flood damage in these areas.
Be safe, Flood Fighters!
